How Did You Take It?
Did you tackle the trouble that came your way
with a resolute heart and cheerful?
Or hide your face from the light of day
with a craven soul and fearful?
Oh, a trouble's a ton, or a trouble's an ounce,
Or a trouble is what you make it.
But it isn't the fact that you're hurt that
counts,
but what counts is how did you take it?
You feel tired and beaten, well, well,
what's that?
Come up with a smiling face.
It's nothing against you to fall down flat,
but to lie there, that's disgrace.
The harder you're thrown, the harder you bounce,
be proud of your blackened eye!
It isn't the fact that you're licked that counts,
it's how did you fight, and why?
~Edmund V. Cooke~
A scripture worthy of reflection:
"And Yahshua answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat
to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.
There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one
owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.
And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both.
Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?
Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave
most. And He said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged."
